Here, we hope to provide answers to the most frequently asked technical questions and reported problems.

1. I can’t watch any of these dramas on your site.

2. I downloaded the subtitle file, now what do I do?

2. I downloaded the subtitle file, now what do I do?

You need a video player that recognizes .srt files and you will need to make sure that the .srt file and the video file are named the same except for the extension. Search the internet on how to play movies with .srt subtitles. You can find some good information on aja-aja’s site (where you can download raw files also) or check out D-Addicts’s How-To for more info. PLEASE NOTE that there are many versions of drama videos out there.  Our soft subtitles (SRT files) have been created to work with the raw video file versions that are indicated on the drama page.  These are usually the Ental and Han versions.  Please make sure you have the right version of the video file that our subtitles are synced with.

3. I have the subtitles, but I need the raw video files. Help!

4. I clicked on a subtitle link and just get a screen full of subtitles and timing marks.

You are probably using Firefox or another browser that recognizes SRT files as text and tries to display it.
Simply right click and select “Save Link As …” on Firefox, or the equivalent save option on any other browser.
It might be “Save Target As …” or something like that.

5. I clicked on a subtitle link and it says File Not Found or Page Not Found.

6. I right-clicked on a subtitle link, and it is not an .srt file.

Try once more to make sure you clicked and saved the right link,
and if there is a problem, please let us know by leaving us a comment in the appropriate post.

7. What is the difference between Ental/HAN/TOP/DokGoDie/UDiNG version?

These are the names of different rippers. One is better than the other in terms of quality.  Due to recent changes WITH S2 subbing team is now using different version for each of our projects. Check SUBTITLE STATUS for more detailed info about which version we’ll be using. And to make it uniform, we always use the best version in XVID quality, and the resynced files for the higher quality (720p) are posted as they become available. 8. Oh no, I’ve downloaded a different version than the version stated in the subtitle status page. What can I do?

9. Why is there different version on some dramas (for example: “You’re Beautiful”)? What does {\a6} mean?

For “You’re Beautiful” subtitles, we release another version (v2) for those who can’t view our softsubs properly with {\a6} command/function through their media players.

{\a6} command serves the purpose of putting the subtitles on top of the screen, making it possible for subbers to display lyrics/additional footnotes on top, while at the same time, having the dialogues to show in their usual position. {\a6} command won’t show up properly if your computer doesn’t have the proper video codecs installed. Thus, when we have lyrics on top and the subtitles won’t show up properly. Recommended media players that work best with proper codecs (you may install them from here) are Media Player Classic, Real Alternative and Windows Media Player – WITH CODECS INSTALLED (we highly recommend you to use CCCP project codecs)

Other media players, such as GOM/BS Player and or your normal DVD player won’t be able to display {\a6} function properly, thus you will ONLY be able to see partial subtitles instead of both subtitles and the lyric subtitles on top of the screen. Therefore, if you prefer not to have to delete all the {\a6} function on every single SRT files, v2 is the one for you. So far we have only implemented this version on our newest project, “You’re Beautiful.”

WITH S2 strongly recommend everyone to download the codecs to play with your KM Player/Media Player Classic/Real Alternative/Windows Media Player for best viewing. We, subbers have put a lot of effort in translating and timing the lyrics to work out best in your player as we have intended it to be.

10. There are often Korean terms in the subtitles that I’m not familiar with. Why?

If we choose to use a Korean term in the subtitles, we often provide an explanation in parentheses. However, there are a few Korean terms that are used over and over again and do not have a quick and easy English translation. Many Korean drama viewers don’t watch just one, so these terms have become well understood over time. However, for you newbies, here are a few terms you might want to get familiar with:

Unni- How a female addresses an older sister or older female she is close to.
Noona- How a male addresses an older sister or older female he is close to.
Noonim- More respectful form of Noona.
Oppa- How a female addresses an older brother or older male she is close to (including boyfriends).
Hyung- How a male addresses an older brother or older male he is close to.
Hyungnim – More respectful form of Hyung.

Sunbae - How a student/worker/member addresses a more senior student/worker/member.
Hoobae - How a student/worker/member addresses a more junior student/worker/member.

Agassi/Agasshi – How one addresses a young lady.
Ajumma - How one might address an older, usually married woman.
Ajussi/Ajusshi – How one might address a man (like Mister).

Aigoo - Basically a verbal sigh.
