There are some things that don’t seem so romantic once you get down to it. This is one of them. The heavy mood combined with the heavy acting caused me to cringe many times, and the most positive feelings I could conjure up for these two was sympathy.
So what went wrong? Probably the very premise that this could be romantic (not to say that it couldn’t have work a little better if there was something more powerful to it). Instead, it focuses on the last moments of life and being with someone you shouldn’t be with for the remainder of it.
Personally for me, plenty things were not appealing. And since they could not get me interested in supporting the two main characters, I spent most of the time sympathizing with the secondary main characters instead. Too bad for them that when you get down to it, I think I felt more sympathy for the secondary main characters than them.
It wasn’t an easy watch, but they did venture to try something new. Props for that. I give it a 3.
