    I watched all HYD versions (kor,tai,jap,chi) but I still enjoyed BOF very much.. from their acting, one who doesn’t know korean can also feel those emotions and the tension as well.. but Jan Di WAS a little weak in this.. I believe Tsukushi in jap version kept her pride a bit more.. but hands down METEOR GARDEN was the best one

    Am I late? lol

    I’ve watched it as soon as the sub was released. For me it was just a typical korean drama. I have to agree that it was damn overrated. The storylines were expected, the conflicts were lame but the F4 are damn hot! The actors were all great except for Hyun Joong. Though his character is supposed to be quiet and sweet but I found him err… stupid? lol

    I prefer Japanese version because it’s way straightforward (with no hottie)

    The ending of the drama is the worst. Disappointing

    The OST are cool so perhaps that’s one of the reason this drama is lovable.

    my overall rating will be 8/10

    @jeff, LOL chill. relax.
    1st, i’ ve watched all versions (jap, taiwan) even the manga too and i did think BOF (korea) was good. why are you even complaining about “copy n paste” ?! you know, korea bought the right to do a korean version of it OF COURSE it’d be similar for god’s sake. if they didnt put any similarities why would they call it the korean version??? geez -____-” i do agree that meteor garden is best one but i do think that BOF was great too. because, it’s hard to pull off a story when most people already knew it, but even after that, they still attract many viewers and loved by many people too, they made the some changes and it’s pretty interesting, props to them.

    of course everyone who hasn’t watched meteor garden (Taiwan) would say it is the best drama ever…
    Of course the cast may be more popular than the Taiwanese F4 of the time but i felt it was simply a …

    ‘Copy N Paste’ job done on the scenario where everything is mostly the same except a few minor details.

    that is why i feel there is no such originality on this aspect although I feel it was a decent drama to watch a sort of ‘updated’ version of meteor garden!!

    I watched this drama due to the major hype of a friend that was completely addicted. I had never heard of the original Japanese manga or series, but of course, to make comparison I read and watched all.

    I am addicted to dramas for a reason, the drama, and I have to say BOF, definitely brings the drama.

    My impatience to get to the climax of a story definitely favors the original Japanese one, but I love the drama that BOF brings.

    I admit I was completely annoyed in some parts. Jan Di in someway suffering became extremely redundant for EVERY episode, and the breaking off into separate side stories became excessive.

    Despite the fact that they mixed up, and switched around several of the original plots, BOF does NOT carry the title remake. It simply states that it is inspired by the original HYD. Taking that into consideration I was easily able to cast aside the differences and comparisons.

    I have watched the drama in total twice. Yes, my Hyun Joong bias definitely plays a part, but I DO enjoy it.

    It is a decent drama if you are addicted to the always dramatic high school relationships. Where every day it’s a breakup/makeup scenario. If you are not into those, than this drama definitely isn’t for your taste buds.

    Totally overrated. I cannot understand how this drama got such a hype! Storyline was flawed and boring. Making Jandi suffering too often caused it to get me used to it. Junpyos acting was bad and I hated that guy so much XD
    The only character who was not under average, regarding acting, was Jihoo. Everybody else sucked badly! =P
    Try Meteor Garden, the first drama from Taiwan – best version in my opinion!

    When I first started watching this – I remember it took me a while to get used to. The reason for this is being I have read most of the manga, and before this, I had watched and gotten used to the Japanese Drama. In fact, this was one of my first korean drama. While I think this series is overrated, I absolutely still enjoy it. Watching the story in different forms is entertaining… however I did notice the major differences between this series and the manga and jdrama. I didn’t like it very much to be honest.. but I guess something had to be different, right? In here, the main girl later studies to be a doctor, while in the original series, her real dream is to become a lawyer. Also, the guy who loves and works with pottery in here.. in the original series it was tea ceremony (which is more common in Japan – so perhaps I understand the need to change this considering it’s different culture).

    The characters are interesting, and I thought the actors that played them were quite good looking + good acting. Overall, I enjoyed this series very much.

    Loved it! It was great. I so wanted GaEul and … what’s his name in the drama again? Oh well, I wanted Kim So Eun and Kim Bum to hook up in real life but.. Guess that won’t happen. Anyways, the drama is very good. I was addicted to it. Sure there are times when I got bored but hey, its allright. It worked out in the end. Of course, the characters pissed the shit out of me. For example, I hated Jandi for some reason. Her acting got on my nerves. The ending was okay but weak.

    Stick to the Japanese version, its so much better. I think in the Japanese version Tsukushi was much more independent and strong. But in the korean one it seems like every 2 seconds Jang Di has to be saved by somebody, it’s pathetic and highly annoying. She’s constantly crying and/or whining. zZz! Chemistry for the other version is also much better. Although I do love the lady that played whats his name’s mom, she is so badass. I applauded when she slapped him in the face LOL.

    Boy’s over Flowers… Some say that this drama is overrated, some say that the other versions were better, but I say that this drama really deserved the attention and hype around it. I love this drama.

    The two who made this drama so good are Koo Hye Sun and Lee Min Ho. Their actingskills are amazing and they’ve portrayed their characters in a very believable way. The actingskills of the other three F4 members didn’t really wow me, but that also didn’t bother me, because the storyline was mostly revolved around Jan Di and Jun Pyo.

    The script was very good. Although there were moments where it was a bit far-fetched, it still had a nice flow to it. And to be honest, I like watching those moments where the girl gets saved by a handsome hero (there were MANY moments like that in this drama hehe). Also, there is one special moment in this drama where i’ve cried my eyes out like a little baby. Watch it, and you’ll understand me ;)

    With its 25 episodes this drama suprisingly never bored me. There was alot going on. Though not enough to really get to know the character of Kim Joon for example. That bothered me a little.

    All with all, I give this drama 9 out of 10 stars. I’ve finished this drama in 3 days, so if a drama can make me stay indoors for thát long, it just has to be something good. If you haven’t watched this already, you should watch it NOW! YES, like right now! Thank me later :P

    When this show was broadcasting I couldn’t wait to watch it. I went to soompi to see the episode’s recap, then read the recap @ Javabeans, download the hardsub file the next day and when WITH S2 came out with the softsub I watch it again (because WITH S2 subs is the best ..hehe is the as* kissing translated?). It was a phenomenon, I mean can you blame it? Just look @ the F4….I’m charmed :p.

    And I watched it again last week for the second time marathon from the beginning to the end…well, let say the morning after light is showing all the disappointments. The acting, the script, the make up, the shoots, so many flaws to name but all are forgivable, how can can not like those F4 guys?

    If you read the review to decide whether or not you should watch this drama then YES, go watch it now. If not for the adorable, stylist F4 then just to see what the fuse is all about, or just to compare to the Japanese version (it’s better) or the Taiwanese one (it was so long ago I forgot but I like the Korean actors way better).

    This was a refreshing drama with of course lead roles that would make me mad, sad, and happy all in the same breath. I wasn’t completely satisfied with all of the acting of the F4 team^_^, but I was pleasantly amused at the ups and downs of the two leads.
    I can’t deny a drama that shows a young man grow with learning how to express himself outwardly instead of holding his emotions in… I have to say this process was revealed for most of the characters!

    Boys Over Flowers (BOF), took Korea and drama watching fanatics by storm. Based on the Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango, this drama speaks of Jan Di who enters well known ShinHwa Highschool because of an incident that captured the attention of the media. Whilst her main objective was to quietly live out her highschool days at this luxurious school without troubles her righteous personality doesn’t allow that to happen. Soon the capture the attention of the for most wealthiest and attractive guys on campus, F4. Prepare for war ladies and gentlemen.

    ::Plot::
    First and foremost, for all those die-hard manga followers, don’t expect this to follow the plot strictly.

    It does seem to follow a problem, argument, problem solved, make up and repeat arrangement. This was kind of annoying at times, bit sweet because you know they will forgive each other and it would be all fine until some annoying person you wanted to stab in the eye makes their appearance and ruins it all.

    The romance between the main couple was blatantly obvious but in all honesty, they were the drivers of the humor with their love-hate relationship. For a bittersweet romance, I kept my eyed opened for the relationship between Ga Eul and So Ee Jung.

    ::Acting::
    For most of the main characters I found them suitable towards the character that they played. Lee Min Ho played an outstanding Goo Joon Pyo; able to switch between childish, stubborn and angry in the one scene. Hats off to him. Guem Jan Di, what can I say? Koo Hye Sun was amazing. I especially loved her display of anger, taken in the forms of passive aggressiveness, physical violence and yelling. However, her moments of happiness made you forget all about the bad stuff that had happened. Like all is forgiven.

    I could go on and on with the other actors, but that would take way too much time and space. But I will make one special mention to Lee Hye Young who acted as Goo Joon Pyo mother. Fierce and classy, but lacking on sympathy. Also, Woo Bin needed a sub-plot that allowed him to get more involved.

    ::Visuals/Music::
    All I can say is that they love the close up shots of their faces. Sure they are very attractive people but sometimes there is so much more that could of been expressed from a camera shot from a different angle.

    Don’t get me started on the music. It was shocking, in my opinion. The theme song started at totally inappropriate times and annoyed the crap out of me. Especially when it was a sad scene, how the hell is it “almost paradise”?

    Overall, it’s a decent drama, but there will be parts that make you want to punch someone or break something.

    What can I say, this show is epic: the script writers have you pulling your hair out, the music at points is louder than you can stand, beautiful boys and lovely places…you’ve missed out if you haven’t seen this show. There are arguments over what country had a better version, but in my humble opinion, I prefer the Korean one. If seeing the way wealthy people live annoys you, however, get ready to be annoyed. That aside, the show speaks for itself and is a must see, thus leaving me little more to say. Watch it and enjoy!
