It went a direction different than earlier production plans, which was kind of disappointing. Shortly put, the direction it actually took made our main character, “Cinderella’s Sister,” seem less vindictive and more… broken, I guess. That part was kind of a let down.

That aside, it wasn’t necessarily saying that it made the drama a disappointment. I found all the acting superb, especially Hyo Seon who was such an interesting and complicated character that, while I found her annoying, I was fascinated by all her actions and dialogue. Underneath it all was the “good girl” harboring all this negative emotions toward the main character that comes out mostly in emotionally venomous, but practically harmless ways.

As for Eun Jo, like I said, she felt more broken than vindictive. There is a desperation around her that borders the edge sometimes, and it was hard to resolve with what my expectations in the beginning. Broken character can have depths, but when you add desperation to it, she does seem pathetic at times. You feel for her, but you also feel against her–”What is your major malfunction?” moments.

For our “Princes,” I’ll sum it up by saying they both acted well, but their characters were somewhat hard to believe. Ki Hoon is in a world of his own, redefining his character constantly within a restricted space. Couldn’t tell how they wanted to present him. Jung Woo is just the devoted “other guy.” Cute, but a little too idealistic that you wonder if he truly has a grasp on the situation.

The storyline. If you take it down to the core, it’s basically been done and overdone. The originality was somewhat neuter down when they didn’t go through with the original plot line, in my opinion. While I liked the character development, I did not particularly think much of the story development. It was slow, it dragged somewhat, and lacked any climax.

Overall, it felt more entrancing than engaging. I got caught up in the characters rather than the story, which got increasingly more extreme in an overboard sense. I’ll give this a 7/10.

    [No spoilers]

I would like to start off by saying that I enjoyed this drama very much. From beginning to end, I was hooked and I just couldn’t stop watching. By the series finale, I was left wanting more. It has a certain charm to it that catches people’s attention and I’d suggest it to any of my d-addict friends in a flash and I recommend it to anyone reading this if they’re hesitant.

Now, with that said comes the criticism. While I enjoyed the plot from a melodrama-fan’s point of view, about halfway through the series my analytical side couldn’t help but keep wondering where the drama started going wrong. The beginning of the drama was strong, there is no denying that. Harshly put, the plot just ended up becoming another cliched and weak plot in the later episodes. If not for the phenomenal acting of the cast, this drama would have probably ended up becoming another late-night sideshow. Thankfully, however, the cast was wonderful and along with other things we take for granted, the weak plot was offset favorably and became memorable.

As aforementioned by one of the other reviewers, the endless crying ended up becoming tiring instead of heart-wrenching by the end, especially from Hyo Sun. Aside from that, like I said earlier, the acting from everyone, including minor character’s such as Hyo Sun’s uncle, was wonderful. Special praise to Moon Geun Young, who did an excellent job playing the cold-hearted sister, an unusual role for someone like her, especially after filming movies like “Innocent Steps” which I suggest if you enjoyed MGY’s performance.

I’d like to note that character development in each character, from beginning to end, was great. While I may not have agreed with some of them, it was still great seeing such dynamic changes within some of the characters.

The musical scores were outstanding for this drama. Though I would have liked a little bit more variety, it is perfectly fine as it stands. Every piece was placed in all the right places and I especially thought the main theme was a perfect match.

In summary: All in all, a very good drama with a great cast, music choice, excellent script, and overall schematics, whose only minor points was the devolving plotline in the later episodes. A solid 8.8/10.

This gripping drama is definitely one of the best K-Dramas, brings viewers to the new era of the second 한류 (Hallyu) – Korean Wave. Packed with family issues that are not only heart-wrenching but heart-warming, ‘Cinderella’s Sister’ tells a story of how two distinct girls, with different personalities and from different upbringings, are able to unite and connect under a spell called ‘family’.

This drama portrays the strong desire of every human being who yearns for love and respect from his/her family, up to a state that leads him/her to a major disaster. It highlights the true nature of homo sapiens; after repeatedly being forced into dire situations, sometimes, a person who is initially good in nature could turn into a ruthless person for the sake of surviving. However, no matter how hardhearted he/she has turned into, this same person could still have a bit of mercy buried deep inside his/her heart.

With strong performances not only from its main casts but also from its supporting casts, this great drama is able to bring the viewers deep down to the roots of human’s emotions. On top of that, its unique storylines combined with correct choice of theme songs and excellent cinematography, are unquestionably the right mixtures that create an extraordinary drama that is so realistic and would remain etched in our minds for a long, long time.

Moon Geun Young’s acting was excellent… in fact, most of the main character played their roles pretty good.
BUT, the endless crying really makes me feel like i wanna stop watching half way.. yes, it’s a melodrama, but with that much crying by Hyo Sun (Seo Woo), i feel they should have a sub-genre : bucket-o-tears! haha…

on the good side, this drama proves that k-drama had evolve tremendously. I love the script. and they managed to make a VERY sad drama without having one of the two main character to die.
so all in all, it was a good drama, but a tiring one. it would have been excellent if they had tune down on the tears…. and also Hyo Sun’s whining..

I have watched until episode 9. So far, I really like it

The story is sad but it’s still good. Doesn’t look too fake like any other sad dramas. Some parts of it give very good lessons about life.

Since this drama hasn’t ended airing yet, I can’t tell how the whole drama was. But so far I’ve seen, it’s really good.

This drama is a bit different from what you see nowadays. But good-different.

The actors in it are great actors which makes this drama even better.

So I really recommend this drama if you haven’t seen it yet =].
