“Dream 드림” was slightly better than what I expected it to be. It was well-acted except for Son Dam-bi and the flower fighting boys. Joo Jin-mo was very charismatic and I found myself rooting for his redemption more than Kim Bum’s K-1 fighter role. I did like the latter’s rocky journey from his pickpocketing days to pro fighter. Park Sang-won as President Kang played a very convincing villain role that I was savoring the time when all his evil doings came to bite him in the ass. I liked Jang PD (Choi Yeo-jin) compared to the female lead as she depicted reality more with her smart, suave, direct and calculating nature. I thought 20 eps was a stretch as I saw quite a number of loopholes in the story that could’ve easily cut the series down to 14. Overall, it was a decent drama with more than occasional bland writing and passable directing. I have a really short list of dramas fit for rewatching and I’m sure this isn’t one of them.
This is another drama that I was looking forward to and ended up being disappointed by. It was frustrating and at most times boring. The only redeeming aspect of the drama was the occasional appearance of the “flower boxing boys” ^_^ Other than that, I would not waste your time on this drama. It seems to be an unfortunate trend that the sports themed dramas end up being so disappointing….
