I loved this drama when I saw in retrospect there were unfinished story lines galore but if you have the patience to sit through a 50 episode drama (like a lot of family dramas) but a love for revenge and action (like a lot of 20 episode drams) them likely you'll love this series. But as some others have pointed out if you really get into drams you'll need to take breaks so your tv doesn't end up taking a beating.

Nice drama. Too many repetitive conversations. Too many storylines that never got finished. Too many characters that were introduced didn't seem to have a contribution to the main story plot. Had a disappointing end.

"Unlike most people, I think this drama could have had MORE eps."
Are you kidding me?.Would you tell me the last 10 eps what was all about? Nothing related to the story line.I did painfully watched toward the end.Commercial kill the plots.

the main plot, i think, was too predictable. however, the subplots managed to change the flow of the story. The star of this drama is dong chul. The actresses and actors did a very excellent job even the young ones.

I started this drama completely excited and the beginning blew me away. The child actors were wonderful and I discovered the fantastic Kim Bum. He deserved to win a Baeksang for this role for sure. However, once all the outside production drama began to occur, you can see it translate on screen. I didn't understand why they would waste a talent like Lee Da Hae. I hung on just for her, hope and praying that her character would grow, but it never did. And I just never got over that disappointment. I stopped before she left and began reading summaries instead. Then I even stopped that. It just seemed so disjointed and frustrating to me. I did get to see some great actors, I just don't think this drama was well written. And 50 episodes was just too long. That was the first time I tried such a long drama and I probably will never do it again. That's how turned off it is.

This 50+ drama is definitely the best drama i have ever see.
All those 50+ is more on talk but this drama really shows the brotherhood and the importance of a family.

I have watched the whole drama with my family and guess what. They all love it. All ages. With its family and revenge motive, i really can't help watching every episode even there are a lot of talking.
But if you really pay attention to the the script, a lot of things is actually hint in their scripts.

Only one word about this dramatic, exciting drama.

...Anxious...

I had personally watched this drama 2 times and i still feel tense.
Try thinking...

What if your brother is actually your enemy's son. What will you do?

I thought the drama was OK. Not bad, but not spectacular. It was a bit long IMHO and it felt like it dragged.

Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I didn't think Song Seung Hun's acting was all that great. His acting was unconvincing, and felt a bit forced. Sometimes, I just couldn't stand the scenes in which he was crying. I thought Kim Bum did a much better job at portraying the young Lee Dong Chul.

There are already a lot of reviews on this drama so I'll try to keep mine short and to the point.
1- This drama is toooooo long but you know that, there are gonna be a lot of fast forward but if you don't mind that then go ahead, watch it. It isn't all that bad. Why?
2- The plot was good, heavy and serious, dark tone.
3- I see some improvement in acting in some actors and outstanding performances from others (again 50 plus episodes so there are a lot of time for improvement.)
4- It was beautifully shot, at least for the first 10 episodes or so and hopefully the curiosity will hold you 'til the end.

It isn't my cup of tea so I haven't watched it for the second time but who knows, you may find some hidden gems in it.

Unlike most people, I think this drama could have had MORE eps.
For me, I would sit down to watch an episode before bed and then 5 hours later fall asleep while still watching it!
Warning though, this drama is VERY dramatic, and there are times when you may want to stop watching for a few days just to calm down and so that your TV doesn't end up out the window in a fit of frustration over one of the character stubborn ways lol
Speaking of stubborn.. Yang Chun Hee (Lee Dong Chul/Dong Wook's mother) would probably have to be the worst offender.. Completely severing ties with people and chasing them away from her sons just because they become related to the 'enemy' (enemy being everyone in her eyes.. I swear.. lol)

Onto the main character.. Lee Dong Chul the filial son, gangster, business man, nice guy, perfect man etc lol. I don't know what to say really.. Song Seung Hun is an amazing actor and pulled of the role more than perfectly. Everything he did was with great conviction and determination, a man full of morals and compassion.

Overall, the drama is really well made and the characters all fit in really well together. Unlike other dramas, there is so much action going on in East of Eden that you completely forget about those little seeds planted at the beginning of the drama such as the identity of Dong Chul's true brother.

My heart raced from start to finish of this drama (even though the first few eps were a little slow) and although it may sound a little corny, this drama had a great effect on me as a person..

If even a little, I wish I could be like Lee Dong Chul in the way that he was so outgoing and compassionate about everything, and ofcourse his awesome body and fighting skills haha :)
