The amount of VENOM in this drama is overbearing. Is this how Korean society is? I think not… this is only a drama. Still, the writers and producers go overboard. From the gaudy replay of the cold-blooded murder scene to the venom that Lawyer Yoo Man Seung spews (like keeping a mother behind bars away from her sick child, ep 13)…. I’m sorry i can’t stomach it.
This drama has little endearing qualities, except perhaps for the fidgety relationship between Eun Ho and Tae Jo. The two sidekick lawyer’s antics are unbearable. The secretary’s persona is underdeveloped — she’s put there as a freak in a circus show! Take a Valium or two to be able to stomach some scenes in this drama. Not sure if I’ll finish it… right now I need some Pepto-bismal!
Cute cast, surprisingly easy to watch.
I’ve always thought that tragedy is when the main lead of a drama dies or when he fails at every opportunity to turn up victorious in the end. After “Partner 파트너”, I realized that what is really tragic is knowing from the start that a drama is destined to fail and that its story is beyond saving even by a good lineup of actors. Though it was apparent that the poorly written story accounts for a huge chunk of this drama’s lukewarmness, I was still hopeful that the lead characters would be able to successfully paddle their way out of this unfortunate situation. I’d give them an A for their painstaking but nevertheless, futile effort. The chemistry between Eun Ho and Tae Jo came out half baked and parched from a lack of much needed passion. It’s puzzling how each role has depth and an interesting past bursting from its seams yet all these falls face down with the writer’s inability to harmoniously wove them all together. So what you get is all these noteworthy pieces of individual tales moving in misguided directions.
Sadly, none of the main cast gave a remarkable performance. In fact, Lee Hee Do who guest stars as Lawyer Yoo Man Seung even outshined them. The shrewdness of his personality gives a sharp edge to the series’ dull and dry spell. Man Seung is one of those rare villains who you think you’ve got all figured out to a mold then, suddenly grabs the rug from under you with his untold history of being violently abused which can both be a crude joke or the bitter truth. He leaves you guessing.
For a former-Miss-Korea-turned-actress’, Honey Lee, first stab at doing drama, I’d have to say she did better than most newcomers. She nails down the proud and condescending lawyer attitude perfectly. Spilling tears don’t seem to be a problem with this beauty queen. She has a long way to go but it seems she’s on the track to being typecasted. I’m not expecting to see her in romantic comedies any time soon.
I’m quite biased towards Lee Dong Wook and Kim Hyun Joo who I both loved in “My Girl” and “Boys Over Flowers”, respectively. So in a way, I might have expected more than they can possibly deliver. As it turns out, only magic could’ve turned this series around.
I enjoyed this drama. It was fast-paced and kept me interested throughout its run. The main couple was definitely adorable, but I warn that the romance aspect of the show was rather muted. Its a 9/10 for me!
I really liked this drama, if there was a part 2 I would watch it. The chemistry between the 2 leads was very good. I especially liked Lee Dong Wook. The cases in the drama were very interesting. I thought they did a poor job in how they (the couple) handled the cases. Oh, she is a lousy lawyer, more passion than sense. All the main characters were good and the side stories were interesting. Good ending case, good final episode, but definitely possibility for more. Thanks for subbing.
Gosh…I liked this drama until episode 14 and then I just couldn’t finish it…My sister finished watching it and she liked it. It started to get annoying for me, I think it was the heroine. The only drama that I have seen with her so far that I liked was “Want to marry a millionair”….but I will finish this drama someday because I love Lee Dong Wook. Miss him dearly as he is in the army. wish he could act with lee da hae again..
