    (from my lj, sorry^^)

Too short…way too short…what a shame T_T The length was perfect but I just didn’t want it to end. I loved it from start to end. I can’t believe I waited so long to watch it. I hadn’t even tried watching the first episode ! Had done that, I would’ve watched the whole dorama cause at the first second I immediately undersood I was gonna love it. There are doramas like that, you just know at first glance they’re gonna me great. And I was right. Which is why I’m gonna spend a few pages explaining why you have to watch it too.

Let’s discuss the story first. I couldn’t really find any faults to that story. The dorama is exploring different views on love and relationships and it’s doing a great job, the mood is perfect. The way the characters themselves are explaining, detailing how relationships work, the rules they imply, it’s really funny. Sometimes the fun parts aren’t really subtle but it’s not like this all the time and it’s always fine. There are several chances to smile or even laugh…but that’s not it! There were times when I was really hurting for the characters. But the moments I liked the best were the “beautiful” scenes. There are several of them. You know in love stories there are always scenes you’ll remember more than others. A first kiss, a confession, etc…well in Soulmate there are lots of these moments. The scenes between the two soulmates (and I won’t say who they are cause I hate spoilers= are just plainly beautiful. The story was touching and entertaining at the same time.

I also really liked the directing and the way the story was written. There are 22 episodes but each of them are just “parts”…I don’t really know how to explain. There are first two, real, full episodes and then 10 episodes that are cut in half. Two episodes actually make one. The first part tells the story using a point of view and then the second part comes as a complement and uses another point of view. I really liked it, it helped giving a nice pace to the story. We are not only wondering what will happen in the next episode, we are also wondering what happened and wasn’t shown in the episode we have seen.

I loved the end too! It must be one of the best ends I have ever seen. I’m not saying it’s happy, neither am I saying it’s sad, but it just fits. But I won’t say more than that, you’ll have to watch the dorama to know. Let’s talk about the characters instead. This way I can say more good things about the dorama! There are a lot of characters…and only one I didn’t like! Which is really not much. Let’s go!

Let’s discuss the girls first. I think my favorite would have to be Min Ae, the man-eater. She’s got charisma! To be honest, even though she’s pretty, I don’t think she’s that beautiful and I don’t think she has the perfect body either. She’s slim but she has no shapes, no chest… but she’s got a very seducing aura, a lot of charm and her eyes are really beautiful. Also, the character’s quite touching in a way. In the first part dorama she’s the one giving advice and teaching her friends about relationships as she really is the expert. She knows how to seduce men, how to avoid traps…but then we come to realize but she’s just putting a front and that she knows nothing of real love, she’s as clumsy as the others. She’s got a very strong yet fragile characters (I especially loved the “water bucket” scene…you’ll see) which make her really likeable.

Then comes Yu Jin who I really liked too. She can be pretty annoying sometimes cause she’s really a rookie in love and she’s way too polite. She’s too polite in her speech, in how she doesn’t dare how to act and say what she thinks. Yes it was sometimes annoying. She was brought up to think marriage is the ultimate aim of every woman and it really shows. But she’s still a very touching and likeable character and that the end she’s just really really cool and strong. She looks like a little girl because of the way she dresses but she’s got a really pretty face with big round eyes. Out of all the girls she was the one I thought was the most beautiful. She might not have as much charm, she’s not as seducing as the others, but she has the prettiest face. Her clumsiness was really cute and I hated it when she cried.

Next on my list: Soo Kyung. She’s the strong woman who always says what she thinkgs…she’s not my favorite character at all but I don’t really know why. She’s interesting and sometimes I just couldn’t help but feel really really bad for her. I think actually the reason why I didn’t like her that much was I couldn’t see her as an individual. To me she really came as a couple. Her love story might not be the one I liked the best (cause it hurt other characters I liked T.T) but she had very nice and beautiful scenes so I still liked it. Yes actually it wasn”t so much that I liked the story, I just liked the scenes.

And then there’s Mi Jin. She’s the one with the “not so subtle” jokes. She’s a bit weird and I think she’s got an obsession with poop…. But that’s okay, she was still fun, especially in the way she talked. She’s got some really nice and pretty scenes but her love story is the funniest of all. There are some touching moments but it’s still mostly comedy. I liked it and laughed more than once. Also I liked how the three last girls I talked about were real friends. They’re very loyal to each other and I enjoyed their scenes together very much.

But still I was more interested in the guys…how surprising….isn’t it? Well it’s not true anyway, I was actually more interested in the girls but the thing is that on the guys side there are some reallllly good-looking ones.

The first one I fell for was Ryohei. We see him for the first time in the training center and before we even saw his face, I liked his figure and his style so I knew I was gonna love him. Then we saw his face and I went “kyaah *o*”. He’s playing a model actually and poor him, he’s got to wear really awful clothers. But even when his clothes are awful, he’s still very handsome. And his first scene with Min-ae is pretty sexy…. Also he’s the more sensitive of the three, the purest. He likes to flirt sometimes but he cares about the feelings of others and his always honest in relationships. He actually is the perfect guy.

Jung Hwan would be Min-ji’s equivalent. He’s the funny one. Sometimes we can see there’s actually some depth to him but he’s still a comic relief in a way…he’s the “muscles and no brain” stereotype/ His looks are not perfect but if he tried and if he had a more serious character, I have no doubt he would be very handsome and would make me go “kyah *o*” all the time. He wasn’t the most interesting character but he really contributed to the dorama’s light mood.

The only character I didn’t like was Philip…he happens to be the least attractive one but I swear that’s not the reason why I didn’t like him. He got on my nerves because he was too indecisive. He doesn’t know what he really wants, keeps chaning his mind, cannot take one single decision and because of this he always ends up hurting others who didn’t deserved to be hurt. I understand why Seoh Kyung fell for him at first cause he used to have charisma as we saw in a flash-back but then he completely lost it and I really couldn’t bring myself to like or care for the character. I really hoped he wasn’t gonna end up with anyone cause all the girls had better guys to end up with.

But then comes….my favorite….Dong Wook ! And I’m sorry but this time I can’t say his looks have nothing to do with my liking him. He’s just gorgeous!!!! In the first scene I wasn’t convinced, thinking “he’s cute but why the hell is he wearing that headband?” Then when I saw him without the headband but a hat instead, I just fell for him. He’s just soooo good-looking. And you know what? I ended up liking the hairband too. It’s funny cause all the characters were talking about it too, saying it didn’t fit him but that they got used to it. Same for me and I was really disappointed when he wasn’t wearing it. Anyway, the actor’s gorgeous ^^ And I also really liked the character. He’s a playboy and uses many techniques but he ‘s still pretty direct. Also he’s supposed to be a music coordinator and he choses good music which makes me like him even more. I know he’s not the one actually selecting the music, the guys making the doramas are, but stil. His story was also great! I have many favorite scenes in this story…I love the phone booth one, the bench one, the fish scene…you’ll get all this when you watch it^^ I just loved the character and the actor basically.

And just to say, I loved Mi Jin’s completely stupid rival and Seoh Kyung’s brother. Her brother really made me laugh so much! He’s a completely parodic character and I loved him.

But this dorama’s strength really is that even though we love each character individually, they really only work together. I told you which characters I liked best but what really matters are the relationships between them. The dorama left me with a weird feeling, I just didn’t want it to end and stood silent for a while. I think it also has to do with the soundtrack.

There aren’t many Korean songs in the soundtrack but it’s just great! I heard some Madonna, Katie Melua’s Blame it on the moon, and some others….but the three songs I liked best are songs I didn’t know. There’s Don’t turn away by Peking Laundry, This is not a love song by Nouvelle Vague and Come on through by Lasse Lindh. This song in particular is just beautiful! Watch the dorama AND listen to the soundtrack!

To sum up, I just absolutely loved that dorama and now I need to see more doramas and movies starring Shing Dong Wook…. Watch it please, it’s good :)

    Possibly my favourite drama ever.
Soulmate wasn’t a drama that initially appealed to me, but it has a perfect mix of comedy, music and drama. Normally when I watch dramas I find that the events that lead to the couple being together are just so predictable. This drama breaks out of these boundaries and is presented in a way that keeps you wanting for more. The message of it is very inspiring and you can see how the little details have been put in.

My only criticisms are how you see a lot more of the DW/YJ relationship than the DW/SG relationship. Although the bond between the main couple is clear in the later episodes and you can see the obvious differences of their relationship compared to the others, which also makes it clear that they are fated as their relationship seems to develop within a short period of time, I would’ve liked to see more of their relationship. Secondly, the ending. I know they were expecting a season two but, argh! So frustrating! 12 episodes (well 22 in the length of 12) is too short. There should be more Soulmate!

Nevertheless, I will watch this drama again and again.

I have to say, at first, when reading the summary and seeing the picture, I was not that interested in seeing it. But fortunately for me I did !
It is a perfect combination of good music, feelings and humor. I never felt bored in during a single episode. Oh and now I have goose bumps everytime I hear “C’mon through”…
My only regret is that there are not enough episodes and the second season that was planned was never made !
I think it’s a must like methuongcon said, even though I haven’t seen much dramas yet.

Do we really have a soulmate or does something like soulmate even exist? Is our other half really waiting for us somewhere or is this just an invention?
“Is my boyfriend with whom I’ve been together for 5 years my destined man? He definitely must be my soulmate. But why am I not thrilled when he proposed to me?” This prescribes our leading actress Soo-Kyung pretty well. She has been together with Philipp for 5 years and her eyes have seen only him. Dong-Wook, is your typical playboy, set up by his mother to some mat-seon, he meets Yu-Jin, a collegue of Soo-Kyung, and starts dating her like playing the game he played so often….

Normally I would say that this show’s concept on soulmates is too sweet for my taste, but here it’s not only well done, it’s also interesting how it deals with the question of the existence of a destined lover and how the different characters lead and support deal with this. It’s funny, hillarious, heartbreaking, warm, etc. I absolutely loved this sitcom with its perfect matching soundtrack, it’s well written plot and the smart directing. I can really, really recommend this series.

This is a must… I can’t explain in detail other than that each character had detailed personalities that shown through and were very humorous at times to watch as well as just relatable!!! (relatable in the sense of recognizing all those feelings of dating, finding love, being okay with just yourself as a person). This was a refreshing drama with a different twist on a Korean Drama that I had not seen before… lots of fast talking and humorous relatable material!

Based on this short and sweet review, I rate this drama a “TEN” with my WithS2 rating system below^_^:
10- just had some thing unique, not quite seen before in a drama, along with likable about it to give it a 10
9- would watch again and again (consider the fact that a favorite actor or couple may be featured^_^)
8- could watch again if watching it with some one that has not seen it before to watch their reactions
7- memorable and left an impression… too much drama or too long to watch again
6- worth watching once if can’t find some thing to watch
5- watched it and finished it because I started it and got quite far
4 and below- would not watch again or had to stop watching!
