The best drama I ever see.. Jang Hyuk proves he is an amazing actor… I love everything about this drama… the acting… the ost(suberb) the cinematography… the scrip… everything is perfect…Highly recommended
I have seen some good dramas with some heartfelt stories and some serious twists. But nothing comes even close to Jang Hyuk. I have to say that nothing with him in it has dissapointed me he truly is a great actor.
J-Pooh, you weren’t impressed by Oh Ji-ho’s acting? Sadly, neither was I. I was hoping to be swept away, but it seems he’s another model/actor who is cast for his appearance. Jang Hyuk killed.
Please beware people, once you watch this, you will get hook. Just one episode is all that’s needed for it to hunt you until the end of the week.
one thing you must know is that slave hunter is standing on the western audience side, its like a package of fighting and abs, though there’s two girls for the guys to check out but I’m sure they are more onto Jang hyuk’s abs, Oh ji ho’s abs are also no joke. if your bf start working out after he watched this then please don’t be too surprise.
the filming tech is great, perfect casting too I have to say. Lee da hae fits this role, as much as it annoys others (she’s too perfect) she is the catalyst of all this hunting.
I didn’t learn anything after watching this though, beside the fact of witnessing Jang hyuk’s character’s life continously spiralling down. lovely.
also you have to love withs2 subbers, they have their ways with words one can’t even describe.
10/10 unique
Great Drama, Terrible Ending. The ending was rushed and why the writers chose to kill off so many of the characters and reward the faithful loyal following with such a dismal, miserable ending with no conclusions or hope left for the outcome of future.
Lee Da Hae was not a good choice for the lead, very plastic and one dimensional. I have seen her do so much better in other dramas such as green rose. Some of the subplots and supporting storyline and characters were irrevelant to the enjoyment of this potentially great drama.
Wow this drama was amazing. The music and the scenery was impeccable along with the cast (I literally recognized 90% of the cast when i watched it). The beginning of the drama had a really strong start but I believe the end was rushed as I felt it dragged a little then suddenly ends.
I LOLED when LDH’s “nude” scene was censored, that scene hardly had cleavage out of the many.
It was something new for me this tipe of drama with all ingredient love fight and suspans. It is more intresting for me becouse I do not know much about the history of Korea but this drama make me to search more informations about this period.
For me, general Son Teaga was a intresting and dificult role for the actor and I admire a lot for that.
Even Lee Dae Gil has his own drama in that hard time for all (nobles oor poors), but his decision in the final was unespected.
We can define this drama gest extraordinare!
I gave it 10 stars just for Jang Hyuk.
Yes – you can call this the abs-drama, or even grown-up’s eye candy drama – but in this confectionery treat lies a substantive elements that it doesn’t just taste sweet but is good for you, too.^^
Not only is the cinematography in a deserving movie-like quality (only drama I have in 720p quality), the host of characters are likable, the approach to a dark period slavery of that time is non-overly sentimental, this is also one drama that has that one actor that is just so powerful that he just seems to captivate you in each scene he appears in. Unlike Il Song Gook in Emperor of the Sea, luckily it’s the lead – Jang Hyuk. The other main characters Oh Ji Ho and Lee Da Hae I found felt flat and rather dispensable, and I say if wasn’t for Jang Hyuk the ratings wouldn’t have been as high as it had been.
As a storyline it’s rather typical – unrequited love, love through circumstances, misunderstood betrayals, etc. But what’s really worth watching and seeing unfold is the interweaving of relationships that build the story – how Lee Dae Gil became a slave hunter, how Song Tae Ha became a slave, and how the slave Eop Bok became pivotal to the story’s end.
Jang Hyuk breathed life into Lee Dae Gil in such a way you just can’t picture anyone playing this role. For one thing, whenever there were flashbacks to his noble days, Brad Pitt in Curious Case Of Benjamin Button comes to mind each time. It’s hard to believe such a harsh and haggard-looking man could also look so kind and polished-looking – camera tricks can only go so far.
The fact that he really is a black belt in Jeet Kune Do, the fact that he really does posses a ripped body, the fact that he really is a pensive person and focused person (I’ve seen him in Family Outing and in interviews), added to breath and depth of Lee Dae Gil. For one thing, he achieves for one scene (eating of an egg alone) one of the hardest things actors do, especially in action ones, portraying without words explosion of tension – a complex of emotions spanning love, sadness, longing, frustration, loneliness, and all with a great tenderness.
Another breakout is indeed one who’s got a lot of attention for it: Sung Dong Il as Chun Ji Ho. Though I found his despicable and rather so unkempt that I cringed every time I saw him pick his toes, then ears, then his teeth (all with the same stick!), I couldn’t help laughing at his perfectly timed bit of humorous antics, or the real affection that he held for Lee Dae Gil.
It’s definitely a must-see.
Great cinematography and story telling. A must watch drama for this year for you guys reading this!
i will be waiting for the continuation of this amazing movie…
Has an extraordinary and well thought plot right from the start. Great cinematography, superb acting from a wonderful line of cast, and the fight scenes are top-notch. No matter if you’re new to sageuk/historical dramas or not, Chuno ought to bring out the drama fan in you. One word: excellent.
Highly recommended.
Spellbinding! I just couldn’t leave my seat whenever I watch this drama. Oh Ji Ho is like the cutest hero and I really hope that he gets his gal and there’s a happy ending to this story…unlike IRIS! I want to talk to those producers!
Drama extraordinaire! I’m watching this drama right now and I’m totally hooked. If you’re into historic drama’s with a (big) hint of romance then this is the thing for you. The cast is amazing, the acting is very good, the fights are intense, and the OST’s are beautiful. I think this one is going to be in my top 10 best drama’s but I still have to wait till it ends =P
